Saturday morning

This morning we had an open house at Hayley and Mac's to welcome Trace to the family.  Everything went smoothly and the rain held off, thankfully! I brought my camera, but didn't take a single picture :(  I was so busy catching up with friends and family that I totally forgot about the camera until we were leaving.  Hopefully, Mac's mom will send some pictures my way and I'll be able to put them up later.  Trace slept through the entire thing (as did big sister Laura!), but everyone was able to look at and hold him.  At one point, I saw my grandmother holding Trace, and realized that she's a great-grandmother eight times over!  May we all be so blessed as she and my grandfather.

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday this weekend.  Travis and I went over to Santa Cruz Friday afternoon and returned to Turlock Monday afternoon.  We went for a hike at Wilder State Park, off HWY 1, one of our favorite parks.  Here's a photo of the Spanish Moss that was all over the trees~ it was so beautiful!  The view for the park is breathtaking, and my camera doesn't do it justice.  As you can see from the last photo, the dogs hate hanging out is Santa Cruz ;)

Welcome, Baby Trace!

This post is much happier than my last post.  We've known for a couple of weeks that my sister, Hayley, was scheduled for a C-section on our dad's birthday, but we didn't know what the baby's sex was.  He's a boy!  He was born at 12:33pm, 3.18.08, weighing in at 8 lb, 12 oz, and 21 inches long.  He has a full head of dark hair (just like big sister Laura!)  Trace and Hayley are both doing well.  Here's the first round of pictures, but I will take more this afternoon :)

Sad Saturday

This afternoon we had to put down our little cat Elvis.  He was almost a year old.  His kidneys and liver shut down due to his feline leukemia, which we were warned might happen, but we had hoped for more time with him than we actually got.  He had a short life, but he had fun.  He and the dogs were great pals, and he seemed to enjoy cruising around the neighborhood.  We'll miss him, but we are happy to know he is out of pain and in a better place.

Brooke's Visit

My friend Brooke came for a short visit this weekend.  We went to lunch and talked allllll afternoon.  Well, we also took some pictures (as we always do when we're together!)  Here were my favorites- did I mention that Brooke owns The Sock Drawer in SLO?  If you're ever passing through the Central Coast, stop in and say hi!

More SC pics

I posted some of these on myspace, and thought I'd add some more here, too.  First is a picture of a few of the plants in Ed and Linda's front yard- there were so many more flowering, but these were my favorite :)
Next is a picture of Travis's OTHER best friend, who waits at the window for him to pull up every evening.
Finally, there's Tanner, our best traveler (Belle tends to get car sick), he just curls up and sleeps!
We has so much fun this last trip, that we're thinking of going back over for Good Friday and the long weekend- I'll keep you updated :)

SC update part two

We had such a great time in Santa Cruz- we are so lucky that we get to visit such a beautiful place whenever we feel like it.  Here's a picture of the sail fish Ed caught this summer in Mexico- it's so big it's longer than the dining room table!
I tried my hand at taking pictures while Travis was driving- and here's a few of my favorites. I've also added a picture of Travis's latest batch of beer.  It's soooo good!

SC update

We're here in Santa Cruz and enjoying every moment of it!  Travis was able to surf 4 mile this morning while I walked the dogs along the ocean; I had a WONDERFUL massage (that I almost fell asleep in THREE TIMES!!!) and we had a nice soak in the spa tubs at Well Within; we also met up with our great friends Chuck, Laura, and Darrel; and just finished an amazing meal that Travis's mom and dad fixed for us- we are sooooo spoiled!  I don't know if it's Santa Cruz or the escape from our daily lives, but we have had a great time and are still looking forward to at least 18 hours more!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend as much as we are!
